Township-borne impact (OHH) advertising led by innovation.

Empowering Township Communities, Informal Market Bricks and Mortar and Alternative Urban Streets Points of Contact through OOH Media and significantly operating within the Township Circular Economy.

Who We Are?

The “Krate” (a township colloquial term, derived  from the word *CRATE*) is known for being able to carry and store things; however, in the townships of Africa, a Krate is used multifold, making it a multifunctional accessory. It is used as a chair, step ladder, storage, entertainment tool for “amaPantsula,” and streetlight dancers; a door blocker, etcetera, and is now the Krate represents disruptive, incremental, radical, and sustainable innovation – proudly calling ourselves purposeful disruptors.

Who We Are?

Riding on the township communal nature of all hands  working together to achieve a common goal, The Media Krate operates within a circular economy upon which we take issues affecting the townships and turn then into OOH solutions that would benefit both the community and advertising clients who wishes to gain access to the growing majority consumer. WE are committed to delivering innovative solutions and partnerships driven by collaborative efforts. The Media Krate operates in diverse9 sectors including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Gabon, Namibia, Ghana, Senegal, the Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Malawi, and Kenya.

The Media Krate simplifies the process of establishing effective and sustainable advertising and media solutions by combining innovative outputs with strategic insights. This approach allows us to build creative, impactful, and workable solutions that provide access to growth opportunities and strengthen brands across various markets.

Our Innovation

Staying true to the essence of the circular economy upon which we operate, one of the biggest pain points in the Townships and Urban Streets of Africa is waste management, and the implications are dire, desperate and deadly especially amongst children and the elderly. In addition, adverting brands have a mandate for Zero Carbon Emissions, that wishes for 0% by 2030; for this The Media Krate has stepped forward with another township base innovation – Sustainability Wall Murals, these walls are made purely out of recycled material and plant-based paint, we have also partnered with local wastepreneurs A.K.A aboMgerezi, and that allows us to be part of the solution to clean up and beautify our Townships and Urban Streets.

Measuring Success

We have various ROI mechanisms and tools to measure the success of our campaigns, namely:

Participant Observation (PapsOps): This is when we work with local community leaders and business leaders & influencers to determine both regional quantitative and qualitative nature of the passing pedestrians across our walls, and products that leave the informal point of sale, namely the Spaza Shop

The Media Krate is also in partnership with local research house who purely focuses on regional and townships community consumer and shopper behaviour, based on running campaigns.

The Media Krate also uses quantitative data from SANRAL for passing motorists and commuter taxis

The Media Krate due to access to a growing township digital distribution and access to smart phones, we can pick the footprint and participation/engagement on our Dynamic WIFI Enabled Wall Murals.
